Are you shipping International? You may already be aware of the changes to Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR) which became effective on July 2nd. Specifically, the Census Bureau is requiring mandatory filing of export information through the Automated Export System (AES) for all shipments where a Shipper’s Export Declaration (SED) is required. The submission of paper SEDs after September 30, 2008 will be a violation of the FTR and subject to fines and penalties. For additional information, visit: U.S. Census Bureau. Am I affected by this change? StarShip customers running versions 9.9 to 9.9.3 and who are shipping international must upgrade to version 994 by September 30th to remain in compliance. Customers already running StarShip 9.9.4 will simply run a web update to receive the enhancements for the International SED changes. See also: Summary of StarShip changes for FTR compliance. Customers still running FedEx Ship Manager Server (FSMS) 0771 and lower You must be running FSMS 0773 in order to receive the automatic EEI/FTR patch download to your FedEx Ship Manager prior to October 1st. StarShip users who are current on Subscription can request an FSMS 0773 CD to perform the upgrade themselves or can purchase an Installation Appointment for our Support Team to do the upgrade for $250. |
